Linda Tacl Allenspach Community Patio
The Aurora Schools Foundation is embarking upon a Brick Campaign for the Patio they are building in tribute to longtime schools’ volunteer, Linda (Tacl) Allenspach, A.H.S. Class of ‘68. The Linda Tacl Allenspach Community Patio, “Linda’s Place,” will be located just north of the Concessions Stand at Veterans Field.
Because the patio is being constructed this summer, you have the unique opportunity to be on the ground floor of this facility enhancement by purchasing a brick for yourself, your family, a loved one, a special teacher, your sports team or extra-curricular group that will be placed in this patio. The Brick Campaign portion of the project will not only serve to recognize each donor, but after Stage 2 – permanent furniture, landscaping and additional lighting—is completed, the money raised will continue to support the many student programs and scholarships the Foundation supports.
Linda passed away in May of 2008 after many years of setting a priceless example of how to be a selfless volunteer in our school community. Linda was always about the kids. She had a vision of building a nice Patio where people could gather to eat, converse, enjoy small concerts or watch sporting events from. The Schools Foundation is honoring her wish by building this 1300 sq. ft., multi-level Patio with private donations. It will be a comfortable spot that will enhance the Concessions area, allowing Aurora to shine among local sporting venues.
Throughout her long tenure as an Aurora City Schools volunteer, Linda served in many capacities—from trip chaperone to Sports membership and concessions coordinator, from founding committee member of the Orchestra Association and the New Alumni Association to ASF Trustee (including Ultimate Booster co-founder and President for almost five years). Long after her three children, Jason, Ryan and Katie graduated, Linda was still found recruiting volunteers or laboring wherever there was a need.
A special tribute area to Linda, which connects two of the three patios, features the brick donor area. Brick orders have been received from A.H.S. Alumni reunion classes, Foundation Affiliates--Aurora sports, band, choir and orchestra booster groups (all in which Linda played an important role)—local businesses, close friends, family and casual friends respectful of her sense of community. The Foundation invites you to join them in building this tribute to Linda, brick by brick.
